CHARLIE CRAGGS IG @ charlie_craggs Nail Transphobia tackles transphobia through nail art, it’s fabulous activism. Founder Charlie Craggs travels travels around the UK with her pop up nail salon to museums, galleries, universities and festivals and offers the public free manicures. Giving people the chance to sit down and chat with a trans person, as most people haven’t met one before, yet often have a lot of misconceptions about them from poor and exploitative media representation. Charlie explains, “This gives us the chance to sit down and have a chat, they can ask me questions about being trans and I can teach them how to be an ally, but the most important part of the interaction for me is just having a laugh and a chat because what I’m really trying to do with my campaign, as well as educate, is humanise the issue and show that trans people are just normal (actually pretty nice) people, I want people to go away with more than just a manicure, I want them to go away an ally. I’m trying to change the hearts and minds a nail at a time.”

RESISDANCE IG @ resisdanceldn Resisdance are a diverse group of women and non-binary people taking hold of the tech and decks, smashing the patriarchy and supporting under funded radical grassroots organisations. We came together to organise banging party nights - whilst challenging gender norms in the party and political scene. We use our nights to fundraise for radical grassroots groups, which would struggle to get funding elsewhere. We host safer spaces workshops & DJ workshops to continue to battle misogyny and harassment on the dance floor and in the club scene. We are also DJs that are committed to representing women, non-binary and POC on line-ups at club nights and festival venues. We prioritise the voices of women of colour, working class women and trans women both in our collective and when planning our events. Our DJs have played the Tate Lates, Secret Garden Party, Pxssy Palace, Shambala, Brainchild to name a few. We are into a range of different music, always playing infectious up-beat vibes. From the newest house and techno to some old school UK garage, RnB and hip hop, to soca, bashment and dancehall. Resisdance is not a DJ collective but an Events collective. We do not want to get pigeonholed into a DJ collective as we are a diverse group of women & NB people working together to create politically inclined events, & some of us are DJs.

She has developed personalised, interactive and informative training workshops on online violence against women and girls and online hate speech for young people and in 2018 will be training online tech companies too.

DANIEL BRATHWAITE-SHIRLEY IG @ ladydangfua Daniel Brathwaite-Shirley, born in south london, creates films, performances, animation and music. Their work is about archiving Black Queer and Trans experiences. There are hardly any visible Black and Trans artists. We exist in abundance but people would rather have us remain quiet. I am tired of being silent. I am tired of the active silence that occurs when spit is shot at me or someone shouts the word faggot while taking a swipe at me. People just watch me in silence while I am attacked. So between being to anxious to leave my room and braving the outside space I create films which are more like self help pieces. I am an artist that works using Film and Audio to create work that Queers questions around race and gender. As a Non-Binary Trans Queer Black individual myself I am continuously fighting images projected on to me. I aim to make work that not only archives the existence of Queer Trans Intersex People of Colour but also seek to create alongside them. Trauma is something that is embedded within my work but I often try to not to recreate the events of truama. I am much more intereted in focusing on living alongside the truama we have experience rather than reliving the events that cause truama.
